Leah’s Practice and Teaching Experience
Today, Leah practices primarily on her own, supported by ongoing online study with Angela Norwood and in-person work with Vance Selover in Berkeley. She has also studied with Devorah Sacks in Grass Valley and trained extensively with Mark Horner, whose influence deeply shaped her yoga practice, her understanding of yoga and even her backpacking. Along with her yoga practice, Leah takes occasional ballet and modern dance classes as well as martial arts.
Leah has been practicing yoga for over 30 years and teaching for more than 25. She developed a yoga teacher training program that has that produced many well-loved teachers. In 2010, she opened Barefoot Movement, a yoga and bodywork studio in downtown Oakland, staffed by graduates of that training program.
Leah weaves principles from her background in dance and martial arts into her teaching. Her work is grounded in a lifelong commitment to moving well with ease, efficiency, and resilience. She is committed to guiding students toward greater capability and comfort in their bodies—supporting their practice and everyday movement.
